this is my multi-wheel project. the skills I used were making a spout on the wheel, centering, and making a lid. When you make a teapot you have to put holes in for the spout so that water goes through. When I glazed this project it was hard to evenly glazed because of the lid and such.
this is my choice project. I used raku glaze to express contrast within my project. The skills I used were pulling up and glazing evenly so the glaze came out well.
this is an extra credit bowl I made to put purple glaze on. As you can see, there is a blue color in the center of the project that I wanted to show off and create another sense of movement.
this is also a case that I glazed differently. I used black and dream green glaze and when I dipped it into the glaze I splashed the glaze around to get the dripping/melting affect. I like this affect as it creates and expresses movement in the project that the eye is drawn towards.
this is my extra project shaped like a vase which I made to practice my surface design techniques. I used brown and green glaze which came out really well after the kiln, and we're very shiny and solid. The contrast from green to brown works well together to express juxtaposition.
this is my double wall, I made it into a sun figure and glazed it with burnt orange. The art element involved in this is shape and color, as the shape of the project resembles one of a sun or possible flower. However, someone broke one of my sun rays and so I had to glue it back on.
This is my extra project which could also be considered a wheel altered project. While on the wheel, I started by making a bowl but then altered the top so that it creates less space and is a unique shape. Then, while glazing I used the raku kiln which turned the project into a metallic-like color. I left one tiny part of the project unglazed because without glaze in the raku the project turns black, which I thought was awesome. The contrast in colors makes the project appealing to the eye and the different texture was really fun making.
I am really proud of this project because of the lines and pictures drawn onto the two plates. Making these plates go together was very fun, but also difficult. When using lines as an art element, you have to be aware of the size and shape of the project. The only thing I would have changed about these plates is that the larger plate would have more clear glaze on it.
